Monitor viewing distance formula

screen width = diagonal x aspect width / sqrt(aspect width^2 + aspect height^2)
viewing distance = screen width / (2 x tan(horizontal FOV / 2))
pixel visibility distance = pixel pitch / tan(1 arcminute)

The main distance estimate is based on screen width and horizontal field of view. Resolution is used separately to estimate whether individual pixels may be visible at the target distance.
